STEM Family Fun

STEM Family Fun is a 2Gen STEM group focused on project-based learning challenges. Each child attends with an adult teammate, i.e. parent, grandparent, mentor, older sibling, etc. This group is for kids in grades 3-6. Teams in STEM Family Fun learn cardboard engineering, coding, and basic robotics. Projects in the last few years included Scratch coding, electric cars, soldering kits, 3D printing, custom board games, ESP32 robot cars, and battle bots. Each project uses the Engineering Design Process and lasts about six weeks.

Each child/adult team will need the following for the fall quarters:

1. Paid registration or scholarship. To keep STEM Family Fun accessible, we use a Pay What You Want model. Each 6-week quarter costs about $50 per student in materials. We ask families to contribute at least $20 per quarter to help cover these costs.

2. Commit to regular attendance. Our projects usually take several weeks to complete.

3. The ability to set up a free web account for Scratch.
