TOLEDO, OH – Kool Kat Science is proud to announce it has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the Toledo Rotary Club Foundation. This generous funding will support the expansion of the “Building Toledo’s STEM Talent Pipeline” initiative, which brings high-quality, project-based engineering, coding, and robotics education to underserved youth in the region.

Aligned with the Rotary Club’s focus on Vocational Services, this grant provides the mentorship and assistance necessary to prepare local youth for future professions and trades. The award will specifically fund two new hands-on programs launching in the fall of 2026:

  • Future Builders Lab: A 15-week afterschool program hosted in partnership with New Leaf Group. Serving students in grades 3–6, the program features three five-week mini-courses: Rookie Makers (engineering), Rookie Coders, and Rookie Robotics. As part of the program, families will also receive assistance in applying to Toledo Public Schools’ high-performing STEM magnet high schools.
  • WTPA STEM Enrichment: A 12-week, in-school program at Western Toledo Preparatory Academy (WTPA). This initiative provides dedicated, project-based STEM experiences for students in grades 2 through 4, actively preparing them for advanced STEM opportunities as they enter middle school.

TOLEDO, OH – Kool Kat Science is thrilled to announce it has been awarded the Toledo Youth Programming Grant for the 2026-27 school year. As the city’s youth programs transition to the newly dedicated Youth Services Commission, we are proud to launch our third year of partnership with the City of Toledo to deliver high-quality educational enrichment to local students.

This year’s grant will directly support our overarching initiative, “Building Toledo’s STEM Talent Pipeline”. The funding ensures equitable access to hands-on technology education through two major community programs:

  • South City STEAM Summer Camp: A two-week intensive day camp hosted in partnership with Mosaic Family Zone in the Old South End. The camp sparks initial interest through high-energy design challenges and utilizes an “Earn-to-Learn” attendance model to eliminate financial barriers for participating families.
  • STEM in the Stacks: A comprehensive, 16-week afterschool program hosted at the Toledo Lucas County Public Library’s Heatherdowns branch. This program guides students through a cumulative “Rookie” series—featuring engineering, Scratch coding, and microcontroller robotics—designed to move Toledo’s youth from passive consumers of technology to active creators.

In 2024, Kool Kat Science was honored to participate in the Ohio Afterschool Child Enrichment (ACE) Program, an initiative that provided educational savings accounts to help families access high-quality enrichment opportunities. Through this program, we were able to offer hands-on STEM workshops and experiences to students across Ohio, empowering young minds through science, technology, engineering, and math. While the funding concluded before 2025, the impact of the ACE program continues to resonate in the lives of the students and families we served.
